Off-Site Detoxification Program
If necessary, your treatment will begin with detoxification, which is the process of safely getting drugs/alcohol out of your system. We provide off-site detoxification in excellent hospitals, with medical supervision and twenty–four hour nursing care.
The primary objective of detoxification is to relieve withdrawal symptoms, while patients adjust to a drug-free state of being. Detoxification not followed by counseling and treatment has been found ineffective in maintaining sobriety. Detox alone, is not a treatment for addiction.
However, detoxification is an essential step in leading the way to longer–term treatment, residential or outpatient (with or without the use of medications).
Drug/Alcohol Detoxification Protocol
The detoxification usually takes from three to seven days. Patients will be discharged as soon as the physician evaluates that the patient can safely transfer to the treatment facility, without danger to him/herself, the other clients or the clinical staff.
The detox program is always in accordance with FDA-approved medications. The hospitals that we most frequently utilize are: CIMA Hospital and Clinica Biblica Hospital (both in San Jose).
CIMA Hospital has a special international insurance claims department, with a staff to assist English-speaking clients. CIMA Hospital is the only hospital in Central America that is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a matter of fact, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has an office in the lobby.
CIMA Hospital
The hospital, Clinica Biblica, regularly works with insurance companies throughout the world, including: Blue Cross Blue Shield, PPP Healthcare,Cigna International, Aetna Global, United Health Care, Prudential, Humana, Secure Horizons, International Medical Group,Amedex, Bupa, CISI, J. Van Breda, Good Health, Panamerican Life, Assured Assistance, RBC, Travel Insurance, IHI, Danmark,OHRA,Nordic Assist, AIG.
