The medical director has access to specialists with excellent reputations in their respective fields. Approximately 15% of visitors to Costa Rica come specifically for medical treatment. Laser surgery, orthopedic procedures, dental work, reconstructive surgery, heart surgery, and cosmetic surgery are performed regularly on persons from all over the world. The physicians are renowned for being well-trained and highly skilled. The costs for specialized work are considerably lower than the equivalent work in the U.S. For example, a heart valve replacement in the U.S. may cost about $50,000 for the surgery alone. In Costa Rica, the cost is approximately $15,000, including pre and post-operative visits. Safe Environment
Costa Rica New Hope is a facility with security personnel and services around the clock. All rooms and buildings have telephone connection to the main office 24 hours a day. In the case of an extreme emergency, helicopter transport services are also available.
